Eugene Ralph "Gene" Spencer, age 73, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 4, 2021. Born in West Jefferson, NC on July 15, 1947, he was the son of the late Annie Mae and Ralph Spencer of Darlington, MD.

Mr. Spencer was a 1966 graduate of Bel Air High School, a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam in 1968, a member of the Local U.A.W. 1183, and a 1999 retiree of Chrysler Corporation after 33 years of service. After retiring from Chrysler, Gene worked part-time as a security officer for the Cecil County Government at the Circuit Court in Elkton, MD, retiring in 2012 after 12 years.

Mr. Spencer is survived by his two sons, Randy G. Spencer and Ricky A. Spencer, both of Elkton, MD; grandson, Levi Spencer; and nephews, Brian Spencer, Elkton, MD, and Charlie Lewis, Darlington, MD.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Spencer was preceded in death by his sister, Leona Lewis.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD, where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton.
