Esther Anne Mazza, 99, of Elkton, MD passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026. Born in New York City, NY on January 21, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Gaetano and Maddalena Carrara DelPiano.
Esther was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior in 1949 and walked with the Lord for 77 years. A woman of deep faith, she was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Hackensack, New Jersey where she taught Sunday School, worked in the preschool, and was an active member of the Berean’s Sunday School Class. Her heart's desire was to see Jesus, her Savior, face to face. Esther will be remembered for her compassion, gentle and humble spirit, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to her family, friends, and faith. Her legacy of love, service, and lifelong learning will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Survivors include her children; Sadie Mazza, Madelyne Jessee (Donald), Barbara Mazza, and Timothy Mazza (Diana), eleven grandchildren, Bethany Flores (Rodrigo), Vincent Mazza (Amanda), Jacob Mazza, Anthony Mazza (Miranda), Adam Rhein (Querida), Noah Rhein, Seth Rhein (Sylwia), Jonathan Rhein (Caity), Angela Jessee, Michela Potocki (Kurt), and Pamela Llewellyn (Craig), 25 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Anthony Mazza, sisters Rose Holzman and Mary Janaro and brother Paul DelPiano.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, June 19, 2026, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton, MD.
