Emma Jean Buchanan, 94, of Elkton, MD passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024. Born in Bristol, VA on October 30, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Flora Price Mahala.

Emma had been a member of the Rising Sun Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She loved to sing and dance, bringing joy to all who knew her. Her passion for gardening was evident in the beautiful flowers she cultivated, and she found immense pleasure in bird watching. Emma was also a skilled seamstress, creating many wonderful pieces over the years, and she had a special fondness for her son's dog, Gigi, who brought her companionship.

Survivors include her granddaughter, Robin Buchanan; and great-grandsons, Robert, Shawn and Austin

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Leroy Buchanan, Sr.; son, Leroy Buchanan, Jr.; and all 7 of her siblings.

Funeral service will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 1 PM. Interment will be private in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton, MD.
