Edward Ellis Deel, 79, of Winter Haven, FL passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2022. Born in Grundy, VA, he was the son of the late Delmar and Vertie Owens Deel.

Edward had worked for Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen, MD, where he tested military equipment for safety and durability, retiring as a Mechanical Engineer after more than 30 years of service. He loved his job and always shared stories of the exciting things he was able to see and do, receiving many accolades and awards for his accomplishments. Edward was great working with his hands and could do or build anything. He also enjoyed working on old cars. Edward and his wife, Ellen, loved doing things together, including traveling and going to classic car shows, especially one of their favorites in Carlisle, PA.

Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Pickett, Winter Haven, FL; brother, Lynn Deel (Jeannie), North East, MD; grandchildren, Jamee Pickett and Darrell Pickett (Gigi), both of Winter Haven, FL, and Ashley Snyder, Elkton, MD; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by the love of his life and best friend, his wife of 57 years, Ellen Nickle Deel; sons, Darrell and Michael Deel; and brother, Billy Deel.

A private graveside service will be held at Principio Cemetery, Perryville, MD.
