Edith Kennedy, age 98, of Newark, DE, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021. Born in Hansen, ID, she was the daughter of the late James and Agnes Weitzel Smith.

Mrs. Kennedy was a homemaker that previously worked for Glasgow Arms, Glasgow, DE, and for Triumph Explosives, Elkton MD, during WWII making ammunition. An avid member of St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, she enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and caring for children.

Survivors include her children, Jane Mosher, Kenton DE, Gerald Kennedy, Townsend, DE, June Kennedy, New Castle, DE, Mike Kennedy and Robert Kennedy, both of Newark, DE; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James A. Kennedy, Sr.; children, James Kennedy, Jr., Donald F. Kennedy, Sr., and John V. Kennedy; and siblings, Mary Smith, Margaret Fitzsimmons, Rita Sherwood, James Smith, and Paul Smith.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, DE, where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
