Obituary

Donna Rae Hurst Dellinger, 78, of Elkton, MD passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on Thursday, August 27, 2026. Born in Elkton, MD on June 11, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Charles Hurst Jr. and Grace M. Whitten Hurst.

Mrs. Dellinger retired after many years in the banking industry. After retirement, she enjoyed running her own daycare, where she cared for many children, several of whom she kept relationships with throughout the years. She loved spending time with her friends and was blessed with many dear, lifelong friendships that she cherished deeply. Mrs. Dellinger will be remembered for the love she shared, the friendships she treasured, and the lives she touched throughout her life.

Survivors include her children; Patricia Rhoades (Robert), Warwick, MD, Deborah Harris, Newark, DE, and Karen Dellinger Gould, Wilmington, DE, grandchildren; Ashley Nardo, Brett Rhoades, Zachary Harris, Dylan Harris, Matt Dellinger, Jamie Dellinger, and Matt Armour, three great-grandchildren and brother; Rick Hurst (Rebecca), Orange Pk., FL

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband; James E. Dellinger Sr., son; James E. Dellinger Jr., grandsons; Brandon Rhoades and Brian Rhoades.

Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921 with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton, MD.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
