Donald D. Smith

Donald Dean Smith, age 69, of Millsboro, DE, formerly of Elkton, MD, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, with his special niece and nephew, Rhonda Knapp and Patrick Berry, by his side. Born in Elkton on October 5, 1946, he was the son of the late Fred and Hallie Brown Smith.

Mr. Smith had been a floral shop assistant. An avid Baltimore Ravens fan, he loved boating, fishing and motorcycles.

Survivors include his siblings, Linda Lester (Danny), Martin Smith (Tracy), Ronnie Smith (Teresa), all of Elkton, MD, Marvin Smith (Cathy), Chesapeake City, MD, and Mark Smith (Valerie), Ohio; and nieces and nephews, John Butler, Renee Kyte (David), Danielle VanSant (Mark), Candi Smith (Vernon), and Rhonda Knapp (John), with whom he lived.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, where visitation will begin at 12 Noon. Interment will be in Cherry Hill Methodist Cemetery, Cherry Hill, MD.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cecil County Special Olympics Ice Splash, in care of the funeral home at the above address.
