Dennis McCleary Sidwell, age 77, of Earleville, MD, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Born in Newark, DE, on July 19, 1945, he was the son of the late Gladys Sidwell, and Benjamin and Alyce Birney who helped raise him.

Mr. Sidwell retired from Maryland Materials, North East, MD, where he worked in the stone quarry as an equipment operator. A man with a great sense of humor, he was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, who loved time outdoors, especially mowing his grass. He enjoyed fishing, squirrel hunting and trips to Hollywood Casino. However, his most favorite thing was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Iva White Sidwell; children, Rejeana Rhodes, and Jamie Rhodes, both of Elkton; brother, Arthur Chilcutt (Rebecca), Walland, TN; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sidwell was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanie Chilcutt.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday January 23, 2023, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 West Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Earleville, MD.
