Daphne Thompson Poe, 93, of Elkton, MD passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. Born in Lansing, NC on February 9, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Carson and Pearl Walters Thompson.

Daphne was a homemaker that dedicated her life to her family, creating a nurturing home filled with laughter and kindness. An avid reader, she had a passion for books and connection, often found on the phone sharing stories with everyone. Her genuine spirit and sweet demeanor earned her the affectionate nickname "Nanny Poe", a testament to her loving nature. Daphne was a devoted Christian, and her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She cherished her North Carolina home, and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, and unwavering love for her family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Sonja Stalnaker (Jerry), Elkton, MD, and Shannon Poe (Sharon), Cantonment, FL; 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Denver Thompson, W. Jefferson, NC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John Poe; and siblings, Clyde May, and Elois Thompson.

Funeral service will be held 2 PM, Monday, October 28, 2024 at Maranatha Baptist Church, 3141 Old Elk Neck Road, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 1 PM. Interment will be in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton, MD.
