Danny Richard Mabrey, 72, of Conowingo, MD passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024. Born in Dover, DE on July 24, 1951, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Regner Mabrey.
A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Mabrey proudly served his country during the Vietnam era. After his honorable discharge from the military, he had previously worked as an insulator and pipefitter, and later embarked on a career as a heavy equipment operator and retired after 26 years from Danella Construction. Outside of work, Danny was a member of the Operating Engineers #542 of New Castle, DE, and found joy in the great outdoors by spending his time boating and going to the beach. He admired cars, especially his Camaro, and cherished time with his grandchildren creating memories. Danny also loved to read, and enjoyed everything having to do with the military or military history.
Survivors include his loving wife of 33 years, Brenda Wyatt Mabrey; children, James Robinson, Jr., Conowingo, MD, and Terry Robinson, Elkton, MD; 2 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and siblings, John Mabrey (Ginny), Alan Mabrey (Robin), both of Wilmington, DE, Ernie Mabrey, Philadelphia, PA, Mary Barlow (Tom), Dover, DE, Denise Hansen (Jeff), Felton, PA, Dennis Mabrey (Elizabeth), Whitehouse Station, NJ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service with Military Honors will be held 11 AM, Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be 11 AM, Wednesday, May 22, 2024 in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pleasant Hill Wesleyan or to the ChristianaCare Health System, in care of Hicks Home for Funerals, P.A. at the above address.
