Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we said farewell, for now, to our beloved Curtis Randall Bowe, who passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025, after a 20-year battle with many cancers. He passed peacefully with his family by his side. Curtis was 75 years old and was the son of the late Cathuel Ashton Bowe, Sr. and Juan Galon Bowe. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Curtis was called to duty in 1969 and served honorably in the U.S. Army, including service in the Vietnam War. In his civilian life, he was employed by Delmarva Power Company for 45 years, retiring as an Engineering Technician.

In addition to his lifelong commitment to his work, Curtis was always an avid sports enthusiast. He loved playing any team sport but was especially passionate about teaching and coaching the games, whether it was soccer, volleyball, baseball or basketball. Curtis loved to share his knowledge and teach athletes of all ages and skill levels, finding potential and special skills in each athlete.

Any and all who knew Curtis knew that he could find humor and joy in everything he did, whether it was playing guitar and singing for his children, competing in a pool league, or sharing laughs around a card table. He loved being in the company of others, and he made everyone feel welcome and comfortable.

Curtis shared a very special bond with the veterans at the Elkton Vet Center. The veterans and staff were a vital part of his life, and he respected and loved all of them.

Curtis also cherished the time with his card group, where he chatted, laughed, played cards and ate many cookies.

The greatest joy in life for Curtis was being a dad and mentor to his children, and spending endless hours sharing his special humor and quirky wisdom with them. He had a knack for making them laugh and learn, and instilled in each of them honor, commitment and respect.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Karolyn (Northrop) Bowe; his children, Karlynne Bowe, Laurel, Maryland, Christian Bowe, Stirling, Virginia, Kyrie Bowe (Chuckie), Elkton, Maryland, and Charles Bowe (Theresa), Elkton, Maryland. He is also survived by his brother, Kevin Bowe, Sr. (Lisa), Lemay, Missouri; his sisters Corinne Dilay, Honolulu, Hawaii, Karen Castagno (Chris), New Castle, Delaware, and Roxanne Davenport (Billy), Smyrna, Tennessee; and his beloved canine companion, Penny.

In addition to his parents, Curtis was preceded in death by his siblings, Butch, Celeste, and Bradley; and his ever-faithful canine, Lane.
