Chess Robinson Shrewsbury Jr., 84, of Elkton, MD passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Born in West Viriginia on July 22, 1941, he was the son of the late Chess Shrewsbury Sr. and Alli Blankenship Shrewsbury.

Mr. Shrewsbury was a retired supervisor at DuPont. He was known for his hardworking nature, steady presence, and deep commitment to the people he cared about most. He enjoyed trips to Delaware Park, cheering on local high school sports teams, and spending time playing cards with friends at the card club. He was also a dedicated member of Faith Southern Baptist Church.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Darlene Peterson Shrewsbury, children; Angela Guns, Scott Shrewsbury, Bryan Shrewsbury and Delston "Dale" Shrewsbury, seven grandchildren and sister; Rachel Chester.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren and six siblings.

Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Faith Southern Baptist Church, 2494 Singerly Rd, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Fellowship to follow services. Interment will be private.
