Obituary

Charles Jordan Traurig Sr., 82, of North East, MD passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, PA on November 17, 1942, he was the son of the late Harry and Mary Anna Newhouse Traurig.

Charles earned a Master's degree in Business Administration and Marketing, showing his dedication to learning and his drive to succeed. He was the proud owner and operator of North East Auto Sales, before enjoying a well-earned retirement. A life member of VFW Post #6027 in North East, Charles was also actively involved in several local organizations, including the Moose Lodge in Elkton, as well as the American Legion and the Elks Club in Havre de Grace. He truly enjoyed working and staying active, but his greatest happiness came from time spent with family. He loved life, cared deeply for those around him, and had a special place in his heart for his beloved grand-dog, Sophie. Charles will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Jaynee Lynn Weller Traurig; children, Lisa L. Sakers, Dawn M. Witmer, and Charles J. Traurig Jr.; grandchildren, Jennifer N. Shuler (Jesse), Michael C. Witmer (Marissa), David L. Sakers III (Deanna), Alyssa M. Sakers, and Jillian N. Martin (Jermey); and 9 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Traurig; and son-in-law, David Sakers Jr.

Graveside service will be held 2 PM, Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Singerly Road, Elkton, MD 21921.
