Carole
Soltis
September 21, 1941 – February 11, 2024
The Lord called Carole to heaven Sunday. Carole was a devout Catholic and lived a life centered around her family and her church.
Carole was born on September 21, 1941, in Snydertown, Pennsylvania; the third daughter of Kathryn and George Soltis. Her family moved to the Wilmington area when she was thirteen. After graduating from Henry C. Conrad High School, she started her career with Diamond State Telephone Company (Verizon). After retiring, Carole moved to Elkton, Maryland to experience small town living and be nearer to her three sisters. Always an adventurer, she traveled extensively to Italy, France, Russia, Israel, Egypt, and England. She loved researching family genealogy and learning foreign languages. A faithful member of St. John the Baptist RC Church in Newark, she served as both Lector and Minister of the Eucharist. She demonstrated her legendary kindness for others through her volunteer work as a tax preparer for AARP and through assisting individuals in choosing healthcare at the Cecil County Department of Aging. In her "spare" time, she enjoyed caring for grandnieces and grandnephews Harper, Maya, Rex, and most recently, baby James.
Carole is mourned by her sisters and their families: Rita Lambdin and her son, Patrick (Mary Beth) (children Michael, Molly, and Tommy); Beverly Clark (Dave) and her children David (daughter Sarah Marston), Kristina Mackey (Jim) (children Jonathan, Jessica, and Heather), George, and Daniel (Lindsey) (son Dain); and Georgia Clark (Mark) and her children Elizabeth Rinehart (Richard) (children Harper, Maya, and Rex), Meredith Clark (Josh Mister) (son James), and Allison Svezzese (Tony), in addition to her many cousins. All of whom loved her. Carole was predeceased by her parents and by her brother-in-law, Leonard Lambdin. During Carole's brief hospital stay, Sarah Marston and David Clark lovingly attended to her, as did her immediate family.
A viewing will be held on Monday, February 19 at 10:00 am at Holy Angels RC Church, 82 Possum Park Rd, Newark, DE 19711 followed by an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Wilmington.
