Bruce Mahaffey, 80, of Elkton, MD, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, November 6, 2021. He was the son of the late George and Odas Jones Mahaffey.

Born in Clifton, NC on September 22, 1941, Mr. Mahaffey retired in 1996 from the parts department of Chrysler Corporation, Newark, DE where he had been employed for 30 years. He enjoyed playing golf, especially in Myrtle Beach, SC. A gifted and talented musician, he taught himself how to play the guitar at the age of nine. His true passion was for playing the mandolin and he performed in several bluegrass bands including American Standard, Square Deal, and Dixie Dukes.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Mahaffey was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, the love of his life, Barbara; his sister, Pearl "Toots" Mitzel; brothers-in-law, John Williams, and Samuel Greenway, and nephew, David "Joe" Greenway.

Survivors include his siblings, Gladys Williams, Darlington, MD, Robert "Pete" Mahaffey (Gloria), Warrensville, NC, Mary Lou Greenway, Elkton, MD, Linda Tibbs (John), Warrensville, NC; niece, Suzanne Mensch (Brian), Elkton, MD; and nephew, Robert "Bobby" Mahaffey (Annette), Statesville, NC.

The family would like to extend thanks to Amedisys Hospice for their care and compassion during this difficult time, especially to nurses Angela, Beth, Javin, Marilyn, Monica and Teri, as well as aide, Tammy Cline, and social worker, Carina.

Visitation at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton will begin at 9 AM, Friday, November 12, 2021, with funeral service at 10 AM led by Pastor Tobe Witmer. Interment will be in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton.
