Betty Jane Helsel, 83, of Elkton, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Born in Haymarket, VA on October 25, 1942, she was the daughter of the late William H. Pruett and Doris M. Mayberry.

Betty was a retired inspector for W.L. Gore Associates, where she took great pride in her work and the lifelong friendships she made along the way.

Above all, family was the most important part of her life. She cherished every moment spent with those she loved and created countless memories that will be held close forever.

Survivors include her daughter, Chris N. Norman (John); grandchildren, Daniel J. Norman (Amy) and Katie E. Moore (Nick); great-grandchildren, Lily, Scarlett, Paxton, Harvyn, and Meyer; sisters, Georgia and Nancy, numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved K-9 companions, Tiny and Snickers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Ruth, Mary, Joan, BillieAnn, and Robert.

Graveside service will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 1965 Singerly Road, Elkton, MD  21921.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Aviat Academy, 399 Childs Road, Childs, MD  21916.
