Irvin Luckanish, Jr.
July 25, 1943 – October 10, 2024
Arthur Irvin Luckanish Jr., 81, of Pace, FL passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024. Born in Wilmington, DE on July 25, 1943, he was the son of the late Arthur Sr. and Moyna Tolland Luckanish.
Arthur was affectionately known by all as Lucky. A graduate from Claymont High School, he proudly served in the Army National Guard for six years. Lucky began his professional journey with Pepsi-Cola in West Chester, PA and Wilmington, DE. In 1973, he moved to Elkton, MD, where he quickly became a cornerstone of the community. His passion for youth sports led him to volunteer as a softball coach for Elkton High School PTA. His dedication to local sports was further highlighted by his role as a founding member of the Athletic Booster Club at Elkton High School.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen VanDyke Luckanish; 5 daughters, Kristina Najera (Louis), Kelly Galyen (Doug), Taralyn Miller (Keith), Melissa Linkous (Steven), and Jennifer Bakeoven (Justin); 13 grandchildren, Timothy Linkous, Trevor Galyen, Andrew Linkous, Nathan Bakeoven, Hannah Miller, Megan Linkous, Nicholas Bakeoven, Ryan Najera, Caroline Miller, Conor Najera, Alexa Najera, Lindsey Scott, and Jerry Bakeoven; siblings, Moyna Edwards and John Luckanish (Cheryl); sister-in-law, Judith Luckanish; brother-in-law; Joseph Jordan; several in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joanne Jordan Luckanish; brother, Charles "Chick" Luckanish; and many other beloved family members.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12 PM, Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Church, 454 Bow Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 11 AM. Interment will be private.
