Amy I. Braywood, 67, of Elkton, MD, entered eternal rest on February 27, 2023. Born in Elkton, MD, on July 2, 1955, she was the daughter of Florence Lyle Purdie and the late Clarence Oscar Cox.

Mrs. Braywood was a devoted homemaker known for her exceptional cooking skills and resourcefulness. She was a faithful sister and member of her church, First United Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her husband John Melvin Braywood Sr.; children, Jonathan Braywood, Faith Braywood, Brandon Braywood, Damica Braywood, and John Braywood Jr., all of Elkton, MD; Adam Braywood of Columbia, SC; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and siblings, George Lyle, Leroy Cox, Georgianna Braywood, Debbie Ray, Valerie Cox, Natae Wilson, Gregory May, Jeffrey May, Kyle Lynn May, Natalie May, and Mia May; her lifelong friend Linda Aguayo and beloved church sister, Sherry Hinton.

Mrs. Braywood was preceded in death by her son, Damon Braywood, father, Clarence Oscar Cox, stepfather, Nathaniel Purdie, and brothers, Clarence Cox and Lawrence Cox.

A private remembrance service will be held in her honor.
