Alonzo "Al" Edward Christian, 79, of Elkton, MD passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Born in Caretta, WV on September 8, 1945, he was the son of the late Charlie and Nomel Bryant Christian.

For many years, Al worked as a skilled boiler mechanic, beginning his career with the State of Delaware and later contributing his expertise to Cecil County Public Schools until his well-deserved retirement. Outside of his professional life, Al had a variety of interests that brought him joy. He found peace in tending to his garden and loved watching old westerns and gospel shows on television. A devout man, Al was deeply committed to his faith, finding inspiration and guidance in the pages of his Bible.

Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Shirley Kendrick Christian; children, Allen Christian, Cheryl Hill, Travis McGinnis, and Bruce McGinnis; several grandchildren; his sisters, Judy Christian, Cathy Jochens, and Susie Harwell; his brothers, Harold Christian and Jeff Christian; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ernie Christian, Sherman Christian, and Jim Christian; and his sisters, Ruby Nell Smith and Della Peak.

Funeral service will be held 1 PM, Monday, March 10, 2025 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 12 PM. Interment will be in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton, MD.
