Allene Maybel Peterson Spence, 87, of Hockessin, DE, passed away on September 10, 2023. Born in Franklin, PA on October 20, 1935, she was the daughter of the late T. Frederick and Annie Lee Peterson.

Mrs. Spence retired after 26 years as a secretary for Avon. She enjoyed baseball and reading in her spare time.

Survivors include her son, Stanley Paul Spence (Helen),Wilmington, DE; grandchildren, Robert Paul Spence (Melissa) and Gregory Michael Spence (Katsy); great-grandchildren, John Paul Spence, Anna Chanell Spence, Lennyn Aria Spence and Xavier Michael Spence; and sister, Myrna Faye Fritzsche.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Paul Kite Spence; siblings, Nina Lee Moody, F. Carlton Peterson, Beverly Francis MacGuinness and Vivian Ann Lee.

Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Monday, September 18, 2023 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be in Sharps Cemetery, Elkton, MD.
