Alexander Walter Onizuk, 86, of Newark, DE passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025. Born in Elkton, MD on August 24, 1938, he was the son of the late Alexander and Dorothy Butler Onizuk.
Alexander, fondly known to many as Walter, proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He was an avid gardener who took pride in tending to his plants and spending time outdoors. More than anything, he cherished the moments shared with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Walter's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Rebecca Martin Onizuk; children, Tanya Williams, Frederick, MD, Jeffrey Onizuk, Dumfries, VA, and Timothy Onizuk, Elkton, MD; 8 grandchildren; and his siblings, Dorothy Onizuk, Wilmington, DE, Betty Wood, Priscilla Onizuk, John Onizuk, and Gemma Sweetman, all of Newark, DE.
