Donald Spence Hicks
Born in Tacoma Park, MD, Don moved with his family to Elkton in 1955, where his parents, Ralph and Ellanor Hicks returned to their home town and opened Hicks Home for Funerals. He graduated from Elkton High School in 1968, attended Harford Community College and graduated, cum laude, from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1971.
A licensed mortician in Maryland and Delaware, Don has been involved in the Elkton Community in numerous organizations. He has been an active member of Singerly Fire Company since 1972, serving in all capacities including Chief of the Department for five years and currently, President of the Board of Directors. He is also a member and past president of Elkton Rotary, is past president of the United Way of Cecil County, is on the board of the Elkton Alliance and the Cecil County Electrical Board.
He and his wife, Judy, are members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where he is a minister of the eucharist. They have two grown daughters, Catherine Hicks Evinski and Kristen Hicks Erisman and five grandchildren, Julianna, Charlotte and Helena Evinski and Dominick and Eden Erisman.
Kristen Hicks Erisman
Kristen is following the path of her grandfather, Ralph, and her father, Don. After graduating from St. Mark's High School, she attended the University of Delaware where she received degrees in women's studies and history. She has worked at the funeral home since 1995 and in 2002 enrolled in the mortuary science program at the Community College of Baltimore County in Catonsville where she graduated, magna cum laude, in 2005. Kristen holds morticians licenses in Maryland and Delaware. She also is the superintendent of Gilpin Manor Memorial Park and assists families in ordering monuments for their loved ones through Gilpin Manor Memorials.
Kristen resides outside of Elkton with her husband, Christopher and their children, Dominick and Eden.
Russell Andrew Sliger
Born and raised in Harford County, Maryland; Russ Sliger is a graduate of North Harford High School. Following high school Russ went on to Lynchburg College in Virginia where he received a degree in communications. After taking some time to travel, he enrolled in the Community College of Baltimore County in Catonsville to pursue a degree in Mortuary Science. Russ has been a licensed funeral director since 2005.
Currently residing in Bel Air, Md Russ enjoys traveling, sports, the outdoors and spending time with his dog Tillie.
